While many of us can't go out to take in great live music, here are some events taking place online to enjoy while staying home this weekend: Jeremy Denk performs Schumann, Mazzoli, and Brahms for the University of Washington's Meany Center; Tigran Hamasyan performs from The Call Within for EFG London Jazz Festival online; Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi perform from there is no Other for UC Santa Barbara; Punch Brothers perform the first of two consecutive Sunday night concerts from Blackbird Studio in Nashville; and k.d. lang can be heard on BBC Radio 2's In Concert 50.

Jeremy Denk performs works by both Robert and Clara Schumann, Missy Mazzoli, and Brahms for the University of Washington's Meany Center for the Performing Arts' Digital Stage, and takes part in an online conversation with Meany Center Artistic and Executive Director Michelle Witt, both available from noon PT today.

Tigran Hamasyan performs songs from his new album, The Call Within—which Jazzwise calls "an exceptional recording for exceptional times"—this Saturday at 7pm GMT in a solo set for the EFG London Jazz Festival's online edition. Tickets are available here.

Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi perform songs from their 2019 album, there is no Other, in a Sunday Brunch Concert for UC Santa Barbara from 11am PT on Sunday, followed by a Q&A. The ticketed, online event is open to everyone and free to UCSB students; details here.

Punch Brothers perform the first of two consecutive Sunday night concerts from Blackbird Studio in Nashville, where they recorded their 2012 album Who’s Feeling Young Now? and are at work on their next record. The shows begin at 8pm ET this Sunday and next. Each Live from Blackbird concert will be unique, with no repeated songs. A VIP option includes a Q&A with the band at the end of the livestream and a cocktail experience. Tickets here.

k.d. lang's 2011 concert at the BBC Radio Theatre, featuring songs from her album Sing It Loud and favorites from throughout her career, is part of BBC Radio 2's In Concert 50: Solo Superstars, a series of "50 amazing performances from 50 years." You can listen online now here and on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday.

    Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas’ 'Days of Wine and Roses' Original Cast Recording, Starring Kelli O’Hara and Brian d’Arcy James, Now on CD

    The original cast album of Adam Guettel’s Broadway musical Days of Wine and Roses, with a book by Craig Lucas, starring Kelli O’Hara and Brian d’Arcy James, is now available on CD, following its recent digital release. “Repeated listenings compound the amazement,” the New York Times says of Guettel’s work, which “has always offered that kind of challenge—initially leaving a feeling of: Beautiful, but wait, I need to hear it again—and those up for it have a way of coming away shining like Moses down from the Mount. The new score has the same effect.” Guettel, O'Hara, and d'Arcy James—all of whom have been nominated for Tony Awards for Days of Wine and Roses—will sign copies of the CD at the Drama Book Shop in NYC this Wednesday, May 22.
