"The rich voices of some of Canada's most renowned singers filled a tiny Montreal square on Wednesday as relatives and friends of musician Kate McGarrigle gathered to see the spot renamed in her honour," reports the CBC News. You can watch the station's full report below.

Later that evening, Sing Me the Songs That Say I Love You: A Concert for Kate McGarrigle, the feature documentary directed by Lian Lunson that captures the May 2011 New York City concerts honoring McGarrigle, was screened at the Théâtre Outremont, including an appearance from Rufus and Martha Wainwright and filmmaker Wim Wenders.

Tonight, at 6 PM and 9:30 PM, continuing the celebration of Kate McGarrigle's life and music, two back-to-back benefit concerts will take place at the Théâtre Outremont. Proceeds from the concerts, titled Cheminant vers ma ville: A Concert for Kate McGarrigle, will go to the Kate McGarrigle Foundation for sarcoma research, established after Kate's death from the disease in 2010. Rufus and Martha Wainwright and Anna and Jane McGarrigle will host the evening, joined by special guests and local stars including Pierre Lapointe, Robert Charlebois, Michel Rivard, Marie Michèle Desrosiers, and Fanny Bloom. Earlier this year, Nonesuch Records released Sing Me the Songs: Celebrating the Works of Kate McGarrigle, which features highlights from the New York, London, and Toronto tribute concerts. The original cast album of Adam Guettel’s Broadway musical Days of Wine and Roses, with a book by Craig Lucas, starring Kelli O’Hara and Brian d’Arcy James, is now available on CD, following its recent digital release. “Repeated listenings compound the amazement,” the New York Times says of Guettel’s work, which “has always offered that kind of challenge—initially leaving a feeling of: Beautiful, but wait, I need to hear it again—and those up for it have a way of coming away shining like Moses down from the Mount. The new score has the same effect.” Guettel, O'Hara, and d'Arcy James—all of whom have been nominated for Tony Awards for Days of Wine and Roses—will sign copies of the CD at the Drama Book Shop in NYC this Wednesday, May 22.
