Chris Thile recently released the song "Elephant in the Room," from his forthcoming album, Thanks for Listening. Now, just in time for Thanksgiving, you can read the full text of the lyrics, below, which may inspire some topics of conversation around the dinner table this holiday.

"Right now, with how easy it is to be the talker on social media, how hard it is to maintain focus or give something enough attention to appreciate it, we're in a place where listening is a precious commodity," says Thile. "Thanks for Listening is a celebration of people who haven't switched off, despite being given every reason to do so."

The album, due December 8 digitally and December 15 on vinyl, is a collection of new studio recordings of songs originally written as Songs of the Week on A Prairie Home Companion. You can download "Elephant in the Room," along with the previously released track "Thank You, New York," when you pre-order the album. Nonesuch Store pre-orders also include a limited-edition autographed print.

Elephant in the Room

Thank God for fermentation
Fermentation for the wine
Thank wine for conversation
With these relatives-in-law of mine
Thank these relatives for you, babe
Thank you for the bouncing boy doing the best that he can do to keep this family entertained as it navigates the treacherous waters of talking small
On this of all Thanksgivings
Where even the weather can go from zero to an all-out brawl in seconds, just listen
Been kind of a warm November ...
God, you and the climate change again, why you gotta be all doom and gloom?
Woo boy, at least no one's mentioned the giant elephant in the room
Oops!

Ah but it still feels good to be together
Whether you think the world is ending soon or about to get better
So when the bottle's being passed better fill your glass cheers we're in it for the long haul
On this of all Thanksgivings
Where even our sports can go from zero to an all-out brawl in seconds be careful:
Have you ever spent time in Cleveland?
No
South side of Chicago?
No
St. Louis?
No
Ever heard about a fella named Ricketts?
Yes
Anything to do with his politics?
No
How 'bout them Cubs!
Just don't you mention the giant elephant
I mentioned it once and I think I got away with it
Just say hey, what giant elephant
In the room?
